Clearly, I am a food lover. It's obvious. But I also try hard to keep a certain level of fitness (read: Jillian Michaels and the treadmill kick my butt daily) and eat healthy on all of the occasions that I'm not splurging on a crazy tasting course dinner. However, when I can have a tasty meal AND consume a reasonable number of calories, it's happy party day. Protein Bar allows me to do that.
I got lunch here once over the summer and had been looking for an excuse to make the long walk over from my office to Franklin Street. WeGiveToGet had a special Groupon-like deal (3-drinks/bowls for $9!) so it looks like I'll be back a few more times in the coming months. I dropped by on a cold Monday morning and decided to try their Pancake in a Bowl, which is a creamy bowl of oatmeal that really tastes like a pancake with all its maple syrup goodness, AND the kicker... 225 calories, 7 grams of fiber and 15 grams of protein. Like I said - happy party day!
I also sampled the Wrigley Peeled drink from the super friendly staff (especially for 7 am!) so I think the next visit might require a drink... but some of the other bowls are tempting too! My one complaint with Protein Bar is that it's a 20 minute walk from my office. I guess the walk is good for me, but it's so flipping cold in the winter. Thinking about opening an east Loop location soon? Pretty please?
